About this Program

This comprehensive mammography positioning training course is geared for mammography technologists of all levels who want to enhance their current positioning skills and take them to the next level of providing superior patient care in mammography. Learn the eight image quality attributes for clinical image review in the EQUIP program.
The experienced instructor and positioners will provide you with a comprehensive review of mammography positioning techniques essential to executing a quality mammographer program at breast imaging facilities, techniques on how to properly evaluate clinical images and introducing assessment techniques that will improve your mammogram positioning at your facility, including pursuing mammography accreditation through a credentialing organization such as American College of Radiology™ (ACR).
Hands-on sessions with field-experienced mammography educators will thoroughly review:
- supplemental views
- mammography positioning techniques
- clinical assessments
There will be discussions on the advances in mammographic positioning, tips on improving positioning on implant patients and suggested techniques on how to enhance current mammography positioning styles. Details on mammography regulations, the medical audit and pathology reports will be discussed.

Educational Objectives
At the completion of this mammography positioning training course, participants will:
- Discuss the advances in mammographic positioning and techniques to enhance current positioning styles in order to more effectively achieve priority views such as the mediolateral oblique (MLO).
- Provide techniques for image evaluation and assessment techniques.
- Detail the components of Mammography regulation, including the medical audit and pathology report.
- Learn how to implement the Team Approach concept.
- Demonstrate the proper techniques in imaging patients with breast implants.
- Learn skills such as compression techniques to maximize breast tissue on those difficult to position patients for mammography.
- Recognize the technologist, physician, and physicists roles in establishing a quality control program that meets the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) guidelines.

Cheryl Seastrand

Cheryl is a registered mammographer and breast sonographer with the ARRT and has worked in medical imaging for 39 years. She was a lead Breast Imaging Technologist at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee, WI and was also a charter member of Aurora Mammography Workshops planning team. Cheryl has worked with MTMI on the breast ultrasound initial training course from 2013-2024, as well as developing various breast ultrasound on-site in-services to assist with image optimization for technologists and physicians. She has also worked with MTMI on the mammography initial training and registry review courses, provided mammography accreditation in-services, as well as developing variety of videos and webinars during the past 12 years. Cheryl is married and has one daughter who is married and lives in Indianapolis, IN.

This program provides 13.75 (webinar) and 16 (in-person) hour(s) of Category A continuing education credit for radiologic technologists approved by ASRT and recognized by the ARRT and various licensure states. Category A credit is also recognized for CE credit in Canada. You must attend the entire program to receive your certificate of completion.

Qualifying 'Early' registrations must be made at least 21 days in advance for the program.
Cancellation Policy
Courses
Refunds, minus a $50 processing fee, will be granted for cancellations received prior to 3 days before the program. Cancellations received within 3 days of the program will receive a credit toward a future MTMI program, minus the $50 processing fee. No refunds will be made after the program starts. MTMI reserves the right to cancel any scheduled program because of low advance registration or other reasons. MTMI’s liability is limited to a refund of any program tuition paid. MTMI recommends that attendees use refundable airline tickets. In case of cancellation of a program for any reason, MTMI is not responsible for travel costs incurred by attendees including non-refundable airline tickets. When offered, WEBINAR ATTENDEES that cannot log in due to unsolvable technical issues beyond their control will be eligible for a full refund.
