Modern Approaches to Breast Localizations
This webinar will explore the latest innovations in breast localization techniques and tools that enhance surgical precision and improve patient care. Breast localization can be achieved using various imaging modalities, which are especially useful for identifying non-palpable abnormalities. Participants will learn about new magnetic, radiofrequency, and color-guided seeds (currently in pre-FDA approval) that assist surgeons in accurately targeting areas of concern. This session will also examine the collaborative role of radiologists and technologists in these procedures and the exciting potential of these advancements to transform breast localization practices.
Educational Objectives
This course will provide knowledge about new and different types of breast localization tools and the modalities that can be utilized with each. Participants will learn the availability of different manufacturers equipment, seeds and tools that enhance our knowledge about options and lead us into the future.
- Identify major developments in breast surgery and highlight the contributions of influential doctors who shaped current practices.
- Describe the techniques and applications of needle localization and various seed types, including I-125, Savi, Mag, and Elucent Smart Seeds.
- Describe which imaging modalities, like ultrasound and MRI, are compatible with different localization tools.
- Describe the roles of various team members involved in breast localization and discuss how collaboration improves patient care outcomes.
- Describe available equipment and localization options from various manufacturers, considering their impact on the future of breast localization.

Meet your presenter(s)
Deborah Davis
MSRS, RT(R)(M)(QM)
Deborah has been a registered radiologic technologist since 1995, specializing in mammography since 1996. Deborah has been a lead technologist at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas for 24 years. With her 25 years of experience as a mammographer, she started teaching mammography continuing education courses and has been performing mammography consulting for 18 years. Deborah currently is a medical educator at the UT School of Health Professions at MD Anderson Cancer Center bachelor program teaching the 40-hour initial mammography training curriculum and preparation for the ARRT registry. She completed her Master of Science in Radiologic Sciences degree at UT School of Health Professions in August 2021. She travels around the United States to help guide the accreditation process and MQSA yearly inspections for MTMI. She is passionate about breast health and shares her experience and knowledge to help fight the battle with breast cancer.

Cancellation Policy
Webinars less than 8 hours of credit
Refunds, minus a $15 processing fee, will be granted for cancellations received at least 3 days prior to the program. Cancellations received within 3 days of the webinar will receive a credit toward a future MTMI program, minus the $15 processing fee. No refunds will be made after the webinar starts. MTMI reserves the right to cancel any scheduled program because of low advance registration or other reasons. MTMI’s liability is limited to a refund of any program tuition paid. WEBINAR ATTENDEES that cannot log in due to unsolvable technical issues beyond their control will be eligible for a full refund.
