About this Program
Medical radiation exposure(s) is on the rise, and as technologists, we need to be more prepared than ever to respond to the effects that can come from this. As CT technologists, we must continue to learn more and grow our knowledge surrounding the increased use of radiation in the medical imaging fields. We are also challenged with working to find ways to reduce dose/exposure for our patients.
In this seminar, we will cover topics such as CT equipment and hardware/software, mA control, x-ray production, and dose reduction techniques to understand better how we can control the amount of radiation our patients receive. As well, we will review cases/studies, and age group-specific changes/differences in CT protocols, where radiation exposure can be adjusted appropriately to reduce exposure.
Educational Objectives
At the end of this webinar, you'll be able to:
- Relate the use of CT technologies and advancement regarding patient dose
- Explain image quality and appearance based on different technical factor variations
- Describe improvements made within CT technologies that directly influence dose and image quality
- Recall scanning protocols, image quality requirements and dose considerations based on ACR guidelines
- Discuss the differences between pediatric and adult CT protocols
- Express how x-ray production and exposure can come from various energy sources, both manmade and natural

Amber L. Lenhard MBA
MBA, B. A. Humanities; BAS; RT(R)(CT)
Mrs. Amber Lenhard is a former college instructor in Medical Imaging, and prior US Air Force Radiologic technologist. Over the past 12 years, she has used her military training to help instruct and mentor many students within Medical Imaging. Amber has a passion for the field of Medical Imaging and enjoys still being able to work, hands on, in both X-ray and CT wherever she goes. Her husband of 20 years, Keith, is currently on active duty, as a Naval OR Nurse, and together they have two children, Donovan James and Abigail Joy. A fun fact about Mrs. Amber is that she had the opportunity to fulfill a career dream of working with professional athletes. From 2016 - 2021 she was one of the X-ray techs, who alongside the athletic trainers, worked for both the Washington Redskins NFL, as well as the Nationals Baseball teams, and has a 2019 World Series ring.

Category A/A+ CE credit is pending approval by the ASRT. An application for 4 hours of credit for radiologic technologists recognized by the ARRT and various licensure states has been filed.

Webinars less than 8 hours of credit
Refunds, minus a $15 processing fee, will be granted for cancellations received at least 3 days prior to the program. Cancellations received within 3 days of the webinar will receive a credit toward a future MTMI program, minus the $15 processing fee. No refunds will be made after the webinar starts. MTMI reserves the right to cancel any scheduled program because of low advance registration or other reasons. MTMI’s liability is limited to a refund of any program tuition paid. WEBINAR ATTENDEES that cannot log in due to unsolvable technical issues beyond their control will be eligible for a full refund.
