MQSA Certification & ACR Accreditation Help for Facilities
The right mammographic positioning is key to effective diagnostic imaging that can prevent and detect breast cancer. Mammography imaging facilities are rated on their effectiveness in this area by MQSA and ACR – certification and accreditation agencies, respectively.
Those facilities that do not meet certifying or accrediting standards because of a deficiency in the area of mammographic positioning can benefit from an in-service program that offers hands-on, onsite instruction for mammographers. Whether you are new to leadership within mammography and are unsure where to get started with your credentialing, or simply need support to meet your MQSA/ACR standards, MTMI’s mammography positioning workshop is here to guide your facility forward!
Educational Objectives
At the completion of this hands-on mammography positioning seminar, participants will be able to:
- Discuss performance of the CC and MLO views and the variances in mammographic positioning techniques, i.e. compression technique, among technologists.
- Evaluate CC and MLO clinical images for radiographic landmarks.
- To position (but not image) volunteers in a controlled setting and evaluate strengths and weaknesses of the mammography technologists.
- To image actual patients presenting with wide range of body builds, breast tissue composition and diagnostic problems.

Michele Sisell
RT(R)(M)(BS)
Michele has been a registered radiologic technologist since 1998, specializing in mammography since 2005, and breast sonography since 2011. Michele worked at a community hospital in her hometown for over 22 years where she was the lead at the Women’s Health Pavilion breast imaging department. In 2020 she relocated to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN in the breast Imaging and interventions department where she currently works.
